Henry T Staib (Killed in Action)

Henry Thomas “Bud” Staib was born on September 12, 1921, to Joseph and Rose Perry Staib in Renovo, PA. He graduated from Renovo High School, class of 1939.

2nd Lt. Henry T. Staib was a Flyboy that made the ultimate sacrifice. He died when his B-24 was shot down over Nazi Germany on February 22, 1944. He was 22 years old. He entered the service in October 1942 and went overseas in December of the following year. He graduated as a navigator in Salem, LA and was serving in that capacity on a B24 Liberator.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Staib of South Renovo received a message regarding their son, Henry T. Staib. The wire was received from the War Department, and it stated that the young man had been reported as missing in action. He was 22 years old. The inscription on his tombstone reads 2LT, 67 AAF BOMB SQ, 44 BOMB GP PENNSYLVANIA.

He is buried at St Joseph’s Cemetery, Hyner, PA.
