Glenn A. Barrows

(Information obtained from his obituary in the WILLIAMSPORT SUN GAZETTE Internet Edition Feb.28, 2014)

T Sgt Glenn A Barrows, formerly from Farwell, PA, passed away at the age of 95 on February 23, 2014. Glenn was born on October 29, 1918, in Geneseo NY, the son of the late Sidney L and Kathryn Barrows. On October 26, 1946, he married Gloria J Lundfelt in the St. John’s Lutheran Church on 8th Street in Renovo. Together, they had two children, Dave, and Christina.

At the age of 19, he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, Camp S-66, Company 306 in Loganton, of which he has related many amusing anecdotes. He was honorably discharged in 1939 to join the workforce as a welder for Piper Aircraft Corp.

He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force, serving during WWII from 1941 to 1945. His military service earned him the EAME (European-African Middle Eastern) Service Medal with (1) Bronze Battle Star, American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and four Overseas Bars.

Glenn enjoyed working on automobiles and in later years occupied much of his time compiling scrapbooks of military planes, trains, and vintage automobiles. He especially enjoyed listening to his music from the WWII era. I think it is safe to say, he reminisced about the days gone by in the military. Glenn is buried in the North Bend Cemetery, North Bend, PA.
