PFC Clyde C. Fry was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Fry. He was born on April 25, 1909, in Williamsport, PA and died December 21, 1987, in Contra Costa, California at the age of 78. According to the 1920 Census, he lived for a short time at 546 Farwell Avenue, Farwell, PA while his father worked for the PRR. His mother Mary worked for the North Bend School. Then according to the 1930 census, his family moved to Richmond, Contra Costa, California. So sometime between 1920-30, they moved to California.

Clyde registered for the draft in 1940 at the age of 31. He enlisted in the US Army Air Forces on February 21, 1942, and trained at the Presidio of Monterey as a Chief Warrant Officer. Clyde was discharged on September 6, 1945.
