The Lumber Heritage Mural offers a vivid glimpse into the heritage of this region — the unfolding story of the Lumber Heritage Region and the pivotal role the Renovo area played in shaping it. Here, rafting and the Great Log Drives thundered down mountain streams, bark peelers stripped hemlock for the tanneries, and railroad logging pushed iron rails deep into the forest. From steep ridges and narrow hollows, millions of logs were cut, hauled, and sent surging into the West Branch of the Susquehanna River — bound for markets far beyond these hills. This mural captures that motion, that muscle, that ambition. It is the story of work etched into water and wood, and of communities forged in the rhythm of axe, rail, and river.
